Overview
TinyText is a Mac-native plain text editor developed by NCL. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build software. Put simply: TinyText does not collect, store, or transmit any of your data. Everything stays on your device, always.
No Data Collection
TinyText does not collect any personal information or usage data. Specifically:
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind
- No tracking pixels, cookies, or fingerprinting
- No network calls — the app never connects to the internet
- No crash reporting sent to external servers
- No user accounts, sign-ins, or registration
No Third-Party Services
TinyText includes no third-party SDKs, frameworks, or services. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, or external dependencies that could access your data.
Local Data Only
All data created, edited, or viewed in TinyText remains entirely on your device:
- Files: TinyText reads and writes
.txtand.textfiles only when you explicitly open, create, or save them. File access is restricted to user-selected locations via the macOS App Sandbox. - Preferences: Settings such as font choice, font size, appearance mode, and line number visibility are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults. These preferences never leave your device.
- Pasteboard: TinyText interacts with the system pasteboard only for standard cut, copy, and paste operations you initiate.
App Sandbox
TinyText runs within the macOS App Sandbox with minimal entitlements. The app only has access to files you explicitly choose through standard macOS file dialogs. It cannot access your contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, or any other system resources.
Children's Privacy
Because TinyText collects no data whatsoever, there are no special considerations for children's privacy. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since TinyText does not collect any data, we have no way to notify users directly — we encourage you to check this page periodically. Any changes will be reflected in the effective date at the top of this page.
